A Man Is Not A Financial Plan

“Money buys you one of two things: It buys you slavery
or it buys you freedom. Slavery to your job, your debt, and sometimes even slavery within your relationships. Or it buys you freedom to live the life that you choose.”
                                                                                                              Kim Kiyosaki

TARGET AUDIENCE
Women of all ages.

SEMINAR GOALS
To empower women to take control of their finances and help them shed some widely held misconceptions about money.

SEMINAR DESCRIPTION
If you could go back in time and change one decision you made what would it be?

Most of us regret the things that we didn’t do, as opposed to the things that we did do that did not work out as anticipated, or as planned. It turns out that our mistakes and failures are far easier to live with than missed opportunities.

It is the “what could have beens” that loom large and weigh heavily on us as we ponder:

  1. What could have been had I married someone else?
  2. What would have happened if I actually pursued my dream of becoming an artist?
  3. Where would I be if I chose to go to college?

When it comes to taking control of our finances, such regrets often take center stage as many of us look back and wonder why we left our financial security to a husband, father, boss, or government.

Despite a common fear of ending up a bag-lady, living on the streets with no home, no income and no family, or the reality that we may very well outlive our money, many of us choose to invest more heavily in our wardrobes than we do in our RRSPs or 401k’s!

Our irrational beliefs about money are costing us.

Our relationship to money is quite an emotional one and one that we don’t like talking about. The truth is, you probably know more about the intimate details of your best friend’s life than you do about her bank balance.

The secrets that we harbor and the fears that we have regarding money are preventing us from establishing true financial security.

This seminar will liberate you from your emotional relationship with cash and empower you to take control of your finances.

SAMPLE CONTENT OF A MAN IS NOT A FINANCIAL PLAN

1. The power of regret

If you could go back in time and change one decision you made or an action that you took, what would it be? Very few of us could answer that we have no regrets, yet most of us would rather confess to a bar full of strangers than admit our remorse to those closest to us.

We cannot change what we do not acknowledge. And when it comes to financial regret, we cannot afford to look back on our lives and wonder why we did not take the necessary steps to ensure a financially secure future.

2. Women’s social progress

In the past three decades, women have made huge social strides and great social progress. Women today are earning their own money, forging successful careers and even starting their own businesses.

Female empowerment has resulted in more women reaching top positions in the workforce, better female earning capacity and a highly educated female population.

However, women are nearly twice as likely as men to retire in poverty and 50% of unattached women 65 and over live below the poverty line. There seems to be a disconnect between our ability to earn money and our willingness to manage it.

Learn what is preventing YOU from managing YOUR finances!

3. Irrational beliefs

We tend to conduct our lives more by feelings and fears than we do by facts. We will focus on five irrational beliefs that are preventing us from taking control of our financial lives. Among them is a pervasive belief that some knight in shining armor will figure it out for us, be it a man, a job, an uncle, or a winning lottery ticket. We will explore this irrational belief and four others.

4. Confessions

You cannot change what you do not acknowledge. When you admit that you too have been harboring some of these beliefs you will be liberated from the emotional relationship that you have with cash.

5. Act

A.  We need to ACKNOWLEGDE our fears and beliefs about money

C.  CONFESS our feelings

T. TRANSFORM our lives
